Don't know where you are so not giving a specific answer as you have some good places to try. However, since New Year every weekend I have been shopping with my daughters for wedding/bridesmaids dresses. Without exception every bridal salon had Sale dresses and all would do the alterations if necessary. Even as late as todaythe 2 shops we visited had sale racks. Worth a look around. Best wishes.

Debenhams; Monsoon during the sales; a second hand shop;
have you enquired about having one made for you??
much cheaper, and you choose your own pattern, your own fabric, and it's made to measure.
My sister got married 2 years ago; they were also on a tight budget. At the time, she was a size 18-20. She had her outfit made. It was a two-piece; a boned bodice, and a full skirt. She wore a very good strapless bra underneath the bodice. The dress and two bridesmaid dresses cost less than 200 quid for the whole lot, including the dressmaking fee.

David's Bridal is the best known and cheapest for actual wedding dresses. You could also try going to consignment shops and thrift stores though, I've worked for Goodwill and we used to get a lot of really beautiful wedding gowns and formal dresses.

Hi - if you try second hand shops or you could put a "Want It Now" ad on ebay - there are no selling fees and you can state your maximum spend - it is a good way of finding something if you are on a budget - you also get a load to choose from cos so many ebayers reply to these ads

The cheapest wedding dress i know of is from George of Asda... comes in large sizes as well ... but it's crap. Buy a second-hand one instead, Try ebay or gumtree: http://www.gumtree.com/

Try Charity Shops....then return it and help someone else in the same situation
The marriage is more important than the wedding....you are wise to reserve your resources.
