For dark brown definitely dont go too light cuz itll look completely fake but if you have a lighter, more reddish complexion go with reddish brown highlights and if you have a darker skin tone go with medium brown so it looks natural. Just DO NOT do blonde cuz itll look stupid and fake

You have to consider your skin tone as well. I have dark brown hair and I've had blonde highlights for 10 months now. They look great. Actually, I have two shades of blonde highlights. It looks more natural to blend in two shades of the same color.
You know what you can do? Visit a hair care shop and check out the little hair pieces with the colors. Put it actually on your hair. This way you can see what that color would look like with your hair color and skin tone. Good luck!

Since you have a dark brown I would do VERY thin black highlights on the bottom half of the head. For the entire head, thickish Caramel color. It would look so pretty. Just for the record, any shade of Blonde for highlights, is so over-rated.

WELL im only 11 and i got my blonde highlights in december wich i wsa 10 well my hair is light brown and now with blonde higlights so you sgould try it it feels awsome!!!!!!
