Im thinking of streaking my black hair to like a honey color blond. But the problem is alot of people are saying that i need to bleach it. I really dont want to because its just a harsh chemical that will only damage my hair. But i heard if i dont bleach it before i streak it my honey blond streaks willl look orange? Is that true?

I got honey blond streaks in my black hair too! I just had it highlighted but not bleached though. Bleaching can damage your hair and it will lose its color and turn grey/white earlier than others when you're old. Try a dye that builds color over the original, not take it away like bleach.

if your going to try anything do it to the under part of your hair as test so it can be hidden if you don't like it. Also if you die it or highlight it with a golden/ blond and want to die back to black go to a pro as the base color for blond is yellow and base color for black is blue. If you don't use the right products when dieing back to black you will get a muddy green color as the black washes out. Good and remember it's hair and will grow back.

first, is your hair naturally black? (my natural color is DARK brown and people always described mine as black) i have been a "blond" for years now. i would advise you to have a professional do the job. i do mine myself, and yes it can be damaging to your hair because you must first "bleach", remove pigment, then dye it the color you want. since you want "highlights", going to a "pro" is your best bet. hope this helped with your decision. feel free to e-mail me for more on this. and NO i am not a "pro", mine was trial and error, it also helped i come from a long line of beauticians in my family.

if its black it wont turn any color unless you bleach it.

hair will not lighten until stripped or bleached.

thats just the way it is. tons of people use bleach they have really good shampoos now to keep it healthy while bleached.

its true. If you want highlights then get some dark red or a dark brown.
