I don't know about a restraining order, unless theirs violence, if he's beat you, and you call the cops, they can usually issue you a temporary restraining order, but this needs to be followed by going before a judge and getting the order permanently in-acted.
Another way is to call the police and tell them about the calls, they will start a annoying phone call report, which will be followed up by a investigator, in some cases the phone company gets involved and you get a number to call every time he calls, and it gets logged. this and being talked to by the cops usually works, but if not, you have the logs and the report that will be presented to the D.A. and he will have to see a judge, it is a misdemeanor.

All you have too do is go to the Police station or call a officer to your home and tell them the same as in this question and yes you can file a restraining order on him and if he is making life threatening calls well he can go too jail for that . But contact the Police ASAP and get this stopped before it gets worse.

stop any habits of getting involved with people as such. Call police file for restraining order which should be something like $50 plus a service fee for delivery$ 50 maybe and then a court date on why, so be ready with all evidence is a nice neat organized fashion and make sure your argument is legit.

You will have to file it either at the courthouse or with a magistrate...Best thing to do is to call your local sheriff's department...the business line, not 911 obviously...They can tell you what you need to do...Different areas probably handle things differently...But, no you shouldn't need to appear in court to put a restraining order on someone...On the petition, you will have to state why you want one on the person, basically...

in most states you have to go to the circuit clerks office, fill out an application that outlines the grounds for the order which is then submitted to a judge of competent jurisdiction. if the judge determines adequate cause he/she will sign the order and forward it to the county sheriff for service. but procedure varies greatly from state to state
