If you are skipping meat, make sure you are eating an alternative form of protein. Lean meat isn't bad for you nor real high in calories (chicken, fish) so you may want to add some healthy meat into the diet. Also, low fat dairy is good for you because of the calcium and vitamins. Just keep it low fat to help keep your calorie and fat content down.

Junk food and dessert should be occasional treats (not large portions) so you don't go wild and binge on them one day. It's okay to have a treat now and then, but these items should never again be part of your regular diet (or you'll find yourself trying to lose these same pounds again next year).

Also, exercise regularly. This helps burn calories and speed up your metabolism. You'll lose weight faster and when you reach your goal, if you keep exercising, you'll be able to eat more calories without gaining weight (within reason).

Any diet which restricts food intake will cause weight loss. Try eating some meat substitute (quorn or soya protein) to see if that makes you crave the meat less.

You just have to find alternative foods, you cannot starve your body. Fill up with more carbs, fruits and veggies. Drink a lot of water, no soda, and no drinks with sugar in them, except for maybe as a treat every once in a while.
