There are a couple different types of breast cancer. The earlier it is caught, the better it is. The best person to ask would be the oncologist, as they would have test results, etc that would help to determine the prognosis. I have seen people who have had bad prognosis, and werent expected to make it through, end up going into remission. There is also a new type of radiation that is being done up in B.C. called Deep Inspiration Breath Hold radiation, that was originally used on lung patients, and is now being used on patients with breast cancer tumors. This is the type of radiation i am on, although my tumor is not in the breast, but the chest wall, pushed into the breast. I find half the battle is attitude, try to keep a positive attitude, and not let it drag them down. THe patient does have a right to know what is going on, as well as a right to copies of the chart, that have medical information. Good luck to your in-law. Just have faith, no one can ever say for sure what the outcome will be, many people DO beat the odds. Take care

I'm a nurse and yes anything is possible. It really all depends on how her immune system is. I hope this helps you. Have her to start on natural herbal everything and eat right, all the way and she has a better chance of survival. Take care and all the best.

That is hard to say but if they caught it early enough she should do well with treatment. Chemo and radiation should really help. Have her check into the website www.tomotherapy.com and read about this machine to see if this might be a type of radation she wants to consider and if it is appropriate for her.
