When I put a blank CD in my Laptop, it says "Windows cannot read this disc. The disc might be corrupted or it could be using a format that is not compatible wiht windows." But when I put in that same CD with a file on it, it reads it. How can I fix this problem?

Are you certain that the CD is blank? I assume you have tried several. If only one it may in fact be corrupted. If all your blank CDs do this try writing to it. Also, does your laptop have a CD Write dirve in it? A CD ROM drive will not recoginize blanks.

Windows cannot read a blank disk. if you have a cd burner the software that drives it will prompt you for a blank disk and the software will look for the insertion. It is not a problem - it is the way windows is supposed to work.

My computer - it will tell you about the drives you have -- yours is probably a cdrom drive (read only) as opposed to a burner.
