My friend is relying on me to plan her party. It's a black and white theme party. She is turning 15 so it's gonna be big! 60 people are invited. So I need ideas for decorations and food! I am part of the 4 important girls in the party, like the brides maids in a wedding, but this is her birthday. Please help!!

I don't live in the U.S so please don't tell me to go party stores, I need to know what to decorate in the party, with what and how.
It's not going to be a dinner so just finger food, what would be some nice "gourmet looking" food, this is like a classical party too.

The food doesn't have to be black and white!
But would like some black and white ones.
like oreos?

Black bean dip with a plop of sour cream is inexpensive and somewhat classier than oreos (though I imagine the stuff would turn grey fairly quickly). Black-cherry snowcones might work as well.

You can make some very creative streamers with construction paper (black & white), just use your imagination (and start early!) Making paper chains comes to mind quickly. With some twine, you can make nifty flag streamers too.

I'm sure at least the organisers will all be wearing black & white. There's no shame in wearing cheap black & white costume jewelry as long as it fits the theme.

Ask all the guests to dress totally in black and the birthday girl dress totally in white. This makes for some really cool pictures and the birthday girl will be easy to identify.

Another neat idea would be to decorate all in black and white, but have some red accents here or there. Like maybe some beautiful huge table centerpieces made with red roses.

P.S. If you want this party to feel classy, I suggest leaving the Oreos at home. *wink* Good luck.

I just had a friends black and white themed 21st a few weeks ago. All of the guests had to wear black and/or white and she wore bright firetruck RED- she looked awesome in amoungst all of us black and white guests.

The decorations were just black and white balloons and streamers etc, simple but very effective. Arrange a lot of photos of the birthday girl and her friends on a piece of paper and then photocopy and enlarge them in black and white and then arrange them in a collage or some sort of design to put on show.

As for the food you can simply go with small pastry type of foods and just position them on plates or trays with black and white serviettes.

** If you want some black and white food then in a few glass dishes/bowles mix up white mints and black liquorice or something like that- it looks really effective

I hope this has helped you, and have a great night.

Wow, you really go all out. You want the party to look classy black & white, not like an 'over the hill' party with a coffin theme. A film theme lends itself well to black and white. Get 15 photos of her and blow them up in black and white. Any chocolates can easily be black and white (not oreos) Make sure all guests know to wear black and white.

Make mini cucumber sandwiches. My favorite party food is a ham and cream cheese roll. You take a slice of deli ham and frost it with cream cheese and put a slice of pickle in it. Roll the whole thing up and keep it rolled with a festive toothpick. Looks fancy and tastes wonderful, yet very simple. Have a cheese and sausage tray with crackers, can't go wrong with that. Veggie platter with dip.

Go to New York, New York in Las Vegas. Not only will you have a replica of the actual skyline, there is also a Statue of Liberty and a Brooklyn Bridge. A restaurant inside has a New York menu featuring New York traditions. Plus, there is that fabulous roller coaster. Then check out the Rockettes show for desert.
