You have to have the right attitude, be hard-working, dedicated, and like what you're selling.

For example.. if you (personally) don't like Chevrolet, do not apply to work as a salesman for a Chev Dealership. If you honestly like what you sell, it shows.

Good Luck.

There is usually training you can take outside the dealerships. Locally in Georgia there is a group called MAADA ... Metro Atlanta Auto Dealer Association. They train and place people in the Automotive Industry. Your local new car dealer can train you in house. There are even national sales trainers and seminars such as Joe Verde.

Like anything to be sold, there is a step by step process in car sales. You will have to learn the steps to a sale and how to do each of those. The steps to selling a car are 1. Meet and greet the customer 2. Needs analysis 3. Product selection and demonstration 4. Preclose 5. Overcome any objections 6. Close the deal and deliver the vehicle 7. Follow up after the sale

If you are a "self starter" who like cars and talks with people you will do fine. Remember to listen to the customer and be honest ... if you don't know the answer to something ... say I don't know ... but I can find out for you. Good luck and God Bless.

it seems that lying and polyester are the ways to do it ..but seriously , you will find that people trading in their cars will lie terribly about the condition then you end up with it , like any sales job believe in yourself and the product , respect the client and educate them , good luck
