It is very possible. Or he could've been very smart and capitalized on other people's gullibility in believing him the son of god. But it's true what you say about today's reaction to those who hear the voices.
But you see the trick is that back then there was no understanding of mental illness and so they would just believe him even though in today's world he could be tested for the illness. The same goes for Joan of Arc. She also had the voices.

No Jesus wasn't. Maybe thats why Jesus was born in an older time, because people today are paranoid, and will distroy anything that makes them feel threatened. Hence he would have been thrown in the mental hospital.

NO. if you only knew what Jesus went through for us, i don't think you will be able to say that about our Savior. Anyone who walks around claiming that he is Jesus should be put in a mental ward, just like that one guy who was on 20/20, he renamed himself Jesus and takes money from naive people. He takes gifts such as rolex, cars, and just 1000's of dollars from innocent believers, YEA , they should be put in jail actually. Nevermind, he was already in jail before because he was some kind of gangster dealing drugs. what a crazy world we are in~ sad!

Jesus didnot say he was the son of God, he said he was a prophet sent by God to call people to worship God only . It was Pual who said that Jesus was the son of God, and Pual is liar.
Show some respect to God's prophets.

well yes, that person probably would be if he claimed to be the son of God, since we know that there is only ONE son of God and that was Jesus.
