I'm an Air Traffic Controller and work Air Transat's all the time going up there. There's a lot of them so it must be OK.

I can't find an airline called Air Transat and can't say I've ever heard of it.

Personally speaking from experience, in December 2006, I went to Canada from Heathrow with Air Canada, and I think they are one of the best airlines to go with. They use Boeing 767's and A330's, have more legroom than Virgin or BA, they are modern, comfortable and the food was excellent.

The only drawback was that the movies etc are shown on the central large screen, they are in the process of fitting each seat with its own TV, but won't be complete until later this year.

Air Canada are quite cheap and they're a member of Star Alliance, so you don't necessarily need to get your ticket through AC which is excellent. AC also offer an online check in service for Heathrow, which you can do up to 24 hours before departure, allowing you to choose your own seat.

Would thoroughly recommend Air Canada.

I flew from Gatwick to Toronto with Air Transat in 2004. It was a little cramped leg room wise but it was OK and I would use them again.

I would recommend them if you are on a budget but if you can afford better do.

Have a great holiday.

Have used them in the past. They fly from a number of UK locations and are pretty cheap. Don't expect any luxury though - limited legroom.
