You might have social anxiety like me. Talk to a psychiatrist because there is no shame in making sure nothing is wrong before it's too late.

I love the Marx Brothers and Harpo is my favorite. Some people thought he really couldn't talk, but it was just part of the act.
Do you mean you can talk but you just don't? Do you have some kind of speech problem that makes you self-conscious? Is this all of the time or just in certain situations?
There is a mental disorder called Selective Mutism; where people are unwilling to talk in certain situations. It usually starts in childhood before the age of five, and it's usually thought to be anxiety related. I think this must be pretty rare, because I have worked in mental health since 1987 and I have only heard of one of our clients having that disorder that I can remember.
There is a guy in my religious group who usually doesn't talk. I have heard him talk once though, and he sounds like he stutters, so I guess he just feels shy about talking because of that.
Then again, some people just don't talk as much as others, and there's nothing wrong with them at all. I spoke very little when I was in grade school and highschool, but I was kind of a misfit who got picked on a lot.

I remember when I was 10 yr.old , I did that ; I did for so long; It took me a very long time to break out of that habit ,I could'nt talk no matter how bad I wanted too.Looking back I was trying to punish my mother for not being there for me . she was hardly ever home . Is that it? Are you trying to punish someone? If you are then let me tell you: You are only hurting yourself cutting yourself off from other people won't help.Sounds to me that you are in a lot of pain . I think you showed a lot of courage reaching out to all of us."You can talk to us " We'll be your Friends.!!!
