I'm thirteen yr's old. My camera got stolen and I need to replace without my mom finding out. We went through a lot of trouble to get it. I only take it out about twice a week. I never left it anywhere or was careless. Someone literally reached their hand into my bag and stole it:[ Before when I asked this question, some people were very helpful. They suggested car washing, mowing lawns, raking leaves. I took this into consideration but I live in an apartment in a very busy city. And the truth is, I can't think of one person with even a lawn to mow. Then, my best friend came up with the idea of a yard sale. She lives two cities down from where I live. The only problem is, in the city she lives in they charge for having a yard sale. And I have no money to begin with. I can't tell my mom, that's not even an option right now. I need to make the money myself. I would sell my black ipod nano 1gig, but I've heard that the highest someone will buy it is around $60 because it's old. Help?

First of all, just tell your mom. Why not do this and let her help you report it to the police? You won't get it back, but maybe you can file an insurance claim on your homeowners or renters policy.

If you insist on making money yourself, since you are in a city, put on some really shabby clothes and panhandle. Asking "Got any spare change?" made a friend of mine so much money years ago that he decided to be a professional panhandler on the weekends. Pick a busy place like a mall or shopping plaza. Try not to get arrested, though.

Try seeing if you can donate blood, or get a small part time job. Ask the red cross if you can help out on weekend just for a little bit. They might let you. Also try day care. After school day care for older kids until their parents get home may be great. Find a parent who's kids are all in grade school, and see if they go to day care. If they do then offer to baby sit them in their house until the mom gets home from work. Remind the parent that whatever they pay you will be much less that what they pay the daycare! A few weeks should be all that you need. You could also try telling your Mom, and tell her that you will replace the camera by working. She might be proud that you are accepting responsibility, and fixing the problem on your own. Good Luck!!

Its very sweet that you are so worried but you mom is an adult and she will understand that someone stole it. Then together you can try and save the money to replace it.

But if you really don't want to do that then you can try this..

try asking neighbors if you can do any chores for them. Especially little old ladies with no one to help them.

Since there's no yard work that needs to be done in your area, how about car washing, or babysitting. Babysitting pays pretty good these days, and you could probably earn that amount in only a few weeks.

tell your mother. It's not your fault that your camera was stolen. You've done nothing wrong.
