Go shopping - go to Chinatown where you can get excellent buys on purses, scarves, costume jewelry. It's the best place to buy little "stocking stuffer" souvenirs to bring back with you. While you're there, stop for lunch - most restaurants are very inexpensive and are usually good.
If you don't live near a Sephora, visit one to try on makeup and perfume; there's a good one in Times Square.

The East Village has lots of little shops/independant designer boutiques. Try Tokio 7 at 64 East 7th Street at First Avenue - it's a designer consignment shop. It can get very crowded, but you can find things here you won't see anywhere else. If you like Denim, look at Famous Friends at 616 East 9th Street (between Avenues B and C)
Walk through Soho - wonderful clothing stores.
Visit Greenwich Village and the East Village - look at all the great little shops and amazingly cheap restaurants. If you like french fries, stop by Pommes Frites on Second Avenue and 7th Street - you'll know it by the large cup of fries outside. This isn't a restaurant - there are only a few seats - all they sell is fries - with about fifty different toppings - these fries are spectacular.
Visit the Time Warner Building near Central Park. Look at all the upscale shops. Stop in Samsung - you can use the cell phones, computers, digital cameras and you can sit on a comfy couch in the back and watch a movie (great HD reception). Visit the fourth floor and see some of New York's most expensive restaurants. Sit on a bench near the floor to ceiling windows - good view of Central Park and other views. Go to the lower level to Whole Foods and grab a snack or a beverage.
If you like hot chocolate, go to City Bakery on 18th Street off Fifth Avenue - it's excellent.
Maybe you'd like to try "Frozen Hot Chocolate" at Serendipity on 60th Street and Third Avenue - near Bloomingdales. The place has wonderful sundaes, sodas, etc - expensive and long lines, but something keeps people coming here. Maybe because it's a good place to spot celebrities. Check out Dylan's Candy Bar on the corner.
Take a camera with you if you go to Madame Tussaud's in Times Square - you can take pictures with the "celebrities"

On Madison Avenue and 56th Street (near Central Park and FAO Schwarz Toys, Serendipity, Bloomingdales) is the Sony Wonder Lab (and it's free!) - you can make your own videos, do voice overs, play games. I love this place

Buy a copy of the magazine TimeOut New York - you can see if there are any bands that you want to see that week, what the exhibits in the museums are, what plays are on, which designers and boutiques are running sales and what other events are going on.. New York always has something different, new and exciting. Make the most of your time.
Have a great trip.

We loved the Hilton Garden Inn at Times Square. It's actually a block or 2 off Times...which is perfect! It puts you right near Rockefeller Center & the Good Morning America show too. Do the double decker Greyline bus tour for at least one day ~ it's a great way to get to know the city. Get the package that takes you on a ferry around the Statue of Liberty ~ it is so beautiful! You can take a 2 hr PhotoTrek tour which is personalized just for you and you get your picture taken all over the city and through some of Central Park (a must see). The PhotoTrek guide also teaches you how to use the subway which is awesome! The Wax Museum is fun for a laugh and more photos. We went to the Top of the Rock and had AMAZING views of the city. Also check out the performer line up for Good Morning American and the Today show. We actually saw Beyonce for free in concert at Rockefeller Center. There's so much to do in NYC, just remember to wear REALLY comfortable shoes because you'll be walking A LOT :). Have a wonderful trip.

You have to see Times Square! There's a great wax museum there and lots of theaters to see performances; I also recommend a cruise around Manhattan on the Circle Line. There are lots of night clubs and sporting events and FAO Shwarz, the famous toystore. And you must see Central Park, you could spend your whole trip there. Hope I've helped.

That depends on what you want to do. You can find every cuisine in the world in NYC. You have over a hundred museums to chose from and thousand of other sites.
Visit Greenwich Village, preferably at night and on the weekend.

Pretty much anything you do will be fun. You go to Bronx and see the Yankees, or go to the zoo there, or many other people are probably telling you on here, you need to check out time square. Its the best!!! You could aldo go to Qeens where i lived and just hang out. Its fun. They have Dunkin Donuts. So just about anything you can do will be fun.
