A snakebite is traditionally 1 1/4 oz Yukon Jack Whiskey and a splash of lime juice, shaken with ice and strained into a shot glass.

My personal rendition of the shot is as follows:

3/4 oz Jack Daniels Whiskey
1/2 oz Jose Cuervo Gold Tequila
3 drops of Tabasco Sauce

Shake with ice, strain into a shot glass. Take shot then bite into a lime wedge.

snakebite is lager and cider in equal measures, if you need a shot just reduce the quantities, but it should really be a pint.
if want a change add a bit of blackcurrent cordial to make snakebite and black. A local drink from my end of the world

It's typically a drink as far as I know. One part Guinness, and one part Strongbow, layered. It takes allot of practise to get it right.
