Eggs are very good for dogs. In fact, they are the most concentrated, valuable form of protein that a dog can get , as long as they are cooked. Apparently, raw egg whites bind to the biotin that a dog ingests and prevents it from being absorbed. Cooked eggs do not do this.
If you do feed eggs, it should not be more than 1 per pound of food.

Can Dogs Eat Eggs

Yes. Some say don't feed them raw eggs but I have fed mine both raw and scrambled. Not too often though, usually a few times a week and not too much, just an egg apiece is what I give my dogs, twice a week.
People used to drink "Egg Nog" and some still do and that is made with RAW EGG. Raw does not mean it will make you sick or kill you. But it pays to know the source of your food.
Mass production can translate to bad product.
Right now people are alarmed about peanut butter, spinach, baby food and products bought at stores that is processed because of contaminants. Contamination happens but is pretty rare. Especially since when there is a bad batch of anything it is all over the news and people are NOT dropping dead in epic proportions because of eating bad product.
There have always been bad batches of products that people consume. Some purposely contaminated and some contaminated in the process without intentional tainting. I have never heard of anyone injecting a raw egg with cyanide and none of my dogs ever got salmonella or bacterial infections from eating raw eggs.
If they did, I'd want to get their immune systems checked. It would be a rare exception.

It seems that many of the people posting here don't seem to understand the way that dog nutrition and metabolism works....doesn't stop them from having an opinion though...

Yes, dogs can eat eggs. Yes, they can eat raw eggs. Dogs don't process cholesterol the same way humans do, so the cholesterol concern is simply wrong. Check out the links below if you don't believe me...a vet and a organic/natural food advocate agree.

And, if you're one of those people who needs an anecdote, well, our dog gets one to two eggs every day...sometimes cooked, sometimes raw...sometimes with the shells. And, his coat has grown even more fluffy and incredibly soft over the past 3 years we've been feeding him this as a part of his diet.

YES!!! Diffently! If you put a raw egg in the dogs' food at least once a week it helps with not only their health it also helps their coat shine. Raw egg is like a medicine for a dog. It helps with their blood pressure and keeps them energitic as they get older. You don't have to give your dog an egg once a week, it can be once a month if you like. It will still do give the same results

Yes dogs can eat eggs raw (mixed in there food) or cooked.

Remember that a dog has an unbelievalbe digestive system....They can break down harmful things that humans would get sick from.

Ever hear the saying "There's a fox in the hen house"?
Well, Fox are of the canine family,
and the reason they raid the hen house is for the eggs.
SO yes, dogs can and do eat eggs. And yes it is good for their coat. However I would not give it more then once a month due to the cholesterol.

The MinPin has a history back in time when it ran wild in northern Europe, surviving off the land, raiding bird nests, farms, chicken coops, much like wolfs, foxes and cyotes. They have developed a stong digestive system that can tolerate raw foods, such as eggs and chicken. The raw eggs have greater nutrient value than cooked eggs.

in theire natural habitat, dogs eat lots of eggs. including the shell. I don't offer the shell to mine, but had him on the B.A.R.F. diet for a year or so and he did very well and was totally happy. He still loves to eat raw fruits and vegis and since we have chickens, he gets an egg or 2 quite often. B.A.R.F. diet is bones and raw foods. We supplimented with wild rice cooked and served room temp.
