nothing against them, but isn't it the Chinese year of the Pig or something? The Chinese had to change it because the Muslims had a problem with it.

It's not like they have to EAT the pig or anything so why do they care if other people want to celebrate their tradition/culture?

So can someone explain this whole thing because i might be wrong i just heard that happened from a friend.

It seems Muslims are always unhappy about SOMETHING.
I'm not trying to sound offensive or disrespectful, it's just what I see.

umm... i am 99% positive that your friend had no idea what he was talking about. there is no reason for the chinese to change their year name. it is a tradition that has been going on for centuries longer than Islam has even been around! it would be impossible for the muslim group to even try to pressure the chinese like that.

not that they would WANT to anyway. they have much better things to do with their time than worry about a year named after a pig. like you said, they don't even have to eat the pig. besides, a year name really has nothing to do with the diet of the people. during year of the tiger, do you think they eat tigers?

I never heard such a thing and I highly doubt it is true. Muslims are not people who try to change other people's cultures.

Besides, if you want to talk about a group who changes other people's cultures then why don't we look at ourselves. For instance, Native Americans are a perfect example. Culture and people wiped out. Black people who sold into slavery were stripped of their culture and today many Black are struggling to have an identity. When you point a finger to someone, four are pointing back. Everybody does dirty deeds. Yes, I admit Muslims are not perfect, but who is. At least Islam is a peaceful religion and hopefully everybody in the world will see this.

Sir, can you please explain to these people why you are blatantly lying? Anyone with even half of a brain can see this question is not even a question, nor is it an answer. I am a muslim woman, and every single year is the year of the pig for me due to my birthdate corresponding with it. No, I don't care. It doesn't bother me at all, because I am not eatnig it. Why do you people think we care so much about a pig's picture or what the Chinese say about it? What part about "do not consume" do you not understand? Where do you see "and no pictures of it"? Nowhere. Stop being so hateful.

A. That's BS

B. Muslims are just at their turn (some of them) for religously justified barbaric acts. Most religions go through this faze several times. Just like the Christians did back in the Middle Ages, when religion brought power more than it does today. But now most Christian countries are ruled by money, so most of the higher ups have switched their belief to capitalism. Not so in the Middle East. And this is only a bunch of radicals, except they fight with bombs while the radical Christians just deprive them of their land, welfare, lives, culture etc. legally.

Why do some people believe everything that they hear? That is the most ridiculous thing I have heard today! Why would the Chinese change it? And why would the Muslims care?

Some of you people are awfully gullible.

That's totally not true,it's still the yr of the pig.

Muslims are always unhappy about something??..what's that supposed to mean??..it is a religion of peace and is always taught to respect others, but people always tend to go overboard you know, despite knowing the rules in one's religion.

If it's the year of the pig,it will be the year of the pig, that's what the Chinese believe in but we don't.We have our own calendar to rely on.We don't have to believe and follow in the year of the pig.

They are being allowed to overrun every facet of human life. We need to stand up aganist their hatred and murderious ways. Why do we allow them to desecrate everything that others on this planet hold as sacred?
The Jewish People do not believe in eating pork either but they are not bothering the Chinese ppl in their particular beliefs nor do they expect the Chinese to change their ways just to agree with the Jewish beliefs.

Since when did the Chinese change it? I'm a Muslim, living in a muslim country in asia, we have chinese, and we still celebrate the year of the pig.

What on earth are you talking about?

Hearing something from a friend does not mean that it is true. The Chinese didn't have to change anything. It's just not true. You're spreading false rumors.

I loathe all dogmatic religions and all their subscribers equally.

"Religion" as conceived by "religious people" is in fact the death of all true spirituality. It's merely a euphemism for brainless bigotry with a "supernatural" warrant.

So "What's the deal with Muslims"? Same thing that's wrong with the Christians. Generations of systematic sectarian training.
