Spaying or neuturing doesn't affect animals territorial boundries. I would ask if you've recently had other male dogs in contact with you or another household member(there's a good chance of it)
Some dog's "mark" when they feel like it sometimes. To them it's not breaking the "potty" rule, but instead strenthening thier Home!

It's his natural instincts to mark his territory. Yoe many need to take him outside for walks more often. If he's stillyoung, hes still learning. Try to teach him not to do that by saying NO madly when u see him do it.

Well if he is doing it in the same spot he smells the urine that was from before. You should get a carpet cleaner and clean the carpets. If its just because it could be that he needs to go the bathroom, he could drink to much water and might just have to go.

He's marking his territory. Also it may be a habit that needs to be broken.

it could just be a habit. If he was neutered after 1 year, then his habits could be hard to break.

My dog did that YEARS after he was nutured. It was our faults (my families) really. We should've taken him outside more. Take your dog outside more often.

MY DOG ISN'T NEUTERED AND MARKED MY COUCH ONE TIME AND I BEAT HIS A** GOOD AND RUBBED HIS FACE IN IT AND PUT HIM OUT SIDE HE NEVER WENT INSIDE AGAIN I SHOWED HIM THAT ITS MINE NOT HIS AND I SHOWED HIM WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF HE DID IT AGAIN AND SINCE HE DIDN'T LIKE WHAT HAPPENED HE NEVER DID IT AGAIN
