Most Intelligent Cat Breed

I think it really depends on the individual cat. I grew up on a farm and we had a lot of different types of cats and it seemed like the smarter ones were the ones that got a lot of attention straight from kittenhood.

I do agree that Maine Coon cats are smart. They are very loyal and will follow directions. Siamese are also very smart. I don't want to talk smack about any breed, but all of the calicos I've ever known have not been the sharpest knives in the drawer. I have one now (lover her dearly), but she can literally hunt her own tail for hours and still be mystified that she didn't catch it.

It really depends on your definition of intelligent, plus allowing for the fact most people only come across and get to know certain breeds it's hard. I have a bengal who is bright but my most Intelligent cat was a domestic short hair. In a magazine survey from cat owners. The sphinx came first, Bengal came joint third. Can't remember what was 2nd. Would like to point out Bengals love water too.

Breed has nothing to do with intelligence. They're all intelligent according to their innate cognitive ability and varied experiences they learn while they're growing kittens.
Some breeds are known for their smarts, but that's a rumour helped by breeders that support an environment that facilitates animal intelligence in their homes. All breeds, if exposed to a healthy, safe, and exciting (to them) home life, can grow to be a smart animal, of course, as long as the animal has the neurological ability in its brain to learn.
