Since her teeth are that bad at an early age that is why he wants to do this now to get this taken care of early. It will only get worse if you let it go. My son is much older but he just had 2 teeth taken out to help his overbite. This is common and the only reason they are doing it so young on your daughter is because her problems are that severe.

First off, it seems really strange that you're getting your teeth extracted now when you've had your braces on for 6 months. Usually, you would have made that choice at the beginning of the plan when you reviewed it with your orthodontist. Ah well. The process itself is relatively painless, though I'd assume that they would wait a few days for your gums to heal before putting the wire back on because your gums will swell a little and bleed. What they do is put anesthetic in your gums and then take a pair of special pliers and slowly twist and turn it until the roots detach -- they don't just rip your tooth out. All pressure and no pain. You don't really feel it and it definitely doesn't hurt either. After all 4 are removed, you can expect to drool lots and lots of saliva. On the car ride home, it felt like my mouth was a waterfall of saliva.

Tooth extraction is a sign of a bad orthodontist. Find another one. The best solution is going to be a palette widener. My youngest had one fitted at about the age of 10 and it was nothing short of miraculous. Within 4 weeks there was sufficient space for all her baby teeth to fall out and her adult ones to come in at the top. Then her lower jaw widened by itself to match the upper and she just needed braces to straighten everything a little so that it was perfect.
If you take out teeth, the result will be an undersized lower jaw. This will seriously disfigure her, do not do that.

You are worried enough to ask and I am concerned enough to attempt an answer. Do 2 things:
1. Go back to the doctor and ask again why and how he justifies the extraction of 4 teeth (I am assuming healthy teeth, healthy girl?) And make sure you understand him correctly. The pros and cons.
I strongly suspect and hope symmetry is not the only thing he is considering.
2. Get a second opinion from another doctor.
Good luck with your decision.

I'm 15 and just got 4 teeth pulled last week for the same reason. it's really not a bad procedure, but your cheeks swell up and it was pretty embarassing to me. However, i do wish i had gotten it taken care of at an earlier age so my teeth would have been fixed by now and i wouldnt have had to go to school with my puffy cheeks

this must be pretty common. both my son and daughter had permanent teeth pulled because their jaw was too small.they were pulled from the back,so the front teeth wouldn't be crowed out.they still needed braces, tho.

Get a second opinion from another doctor.
but pay attention to the fact that she is still growing...her jaws will grow too,so...definitely ask for other opinion too.
