I have a Dish HD receiver and would like to be able to watch and at times record programs on my computer. I need the HDMI plug for my TV, but I can use the Component connection to my computer for video. Searching for a computer card and software that will let me do this with XP.

Tough Luck

There are no cheap (if any) video recorders with component input; plenty with composite or S-video though.
Note, that you still may have macrovision issues from your Dish box.
Just upgrade to the Dish HD/PVR.

Dish community is the terrific decision....get the dish fixed on your backyard, no longer on your roof. (roofs flex and create extra alignment issues on any satellite tv for pc equipment). You get a good sign, all digital and little compression whilst in comparison with cable....
