do you think people that consider life to be meaningless are really intelligent/emotional, or do they just lack a real sense of awareness?

both ways, but the believers are dumb.
Christians and muslims are dumb because they base their belief on faith, which means, do not question , just follow what is written in the book . The church and mullahs has to say that because otherwise, the Bible or the koran becomes a crock, with many inconsistencies and many things that simply do not make sense.

So they stay dumb and traditional for another couple of years. man has learn ed and developed by asking and questioning, not by praying or just believing what you heard. Dumb idiots.

I think those who consider life to be totally meaningless are missing out on something crucial, but are not necessarily intelligent, emotional, inintelligent, or unemotional. They are just missing out on connecting with the world around them. You might label that a sense of awareness, I guess.
I would say that life is inherently meaningless, unless in a sort of biological/natural way the ultimate meaning of life is to pass on your DNA. It's really hard to argue that there is one single, universal meaning of life when life proceeds so differently for different people (ask the bum on the street what the meaning of life is.) However, just because life has no *inherent* meaning does not mean that it cannot have *any* meaning. It's just that you yourself have to give your life meaning. You are the one who has to decide that what you do is worthwhile, and that making connections to other people is meaningful. Etcetera. Realizing that you have some say in what your life means - some would call this free will - is empowering.
Religious people would probably argue that there is an inherent meaning to life, and that's attainment of salvation or whatever ultimate fate their faith proscribes. I am not religious, so I don't buy into this, but the concept of free will, and therefore the capability of humans to determine at least a portion of the meaning in their life, is compatible with many religions, though not all.

I don't think that any person I have ever met actually believes that life is meaningless in the truest sense of the word. Whether a person believes in a supreme being or not merely changes their focus but life itself, the simple act of being able to think gives meaning to life. If it did not, no one would bother to eat the next meal. Those that choose to end their life do so because they are unable to face the pain that they feel and would rather feel nothing than to continue with it. To them the meaning of life was to be free of the pain.

Perhaps a more discerning question would have been:
What is the purpose of life?

Anyone who actually believes life is meaningless (and it's not the result of clinical depression) has not found the true faith. Even in this wicked world in which we live we have meaning and fulfillment in our lives if we follow the Bible's commands and serve God to the best of our ability. This gives us the best possible life now, and comes with a promise from God for a better life in the future.

I think their just not happy with their lot,if they were they wouldnt feel that way because they would have what they need that makes them happy. If your happy you wouldnt think life was meaningless would you????Youd think it was great. In fact you wouldnt care to think about the ?I dont think intelligence comes into it, emotional feelings "YES"the real sence of awareness they lack would be lack of contentment.

I am fearfully and wonderfully made and so are all people. The human body alone is an absolutely miraculous machine. I have never seen an ugly person because I know God doesn't make ugly. James 2:26 "for as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."

THEY LACK THE LORD!

Intelligent, because life itself is meaningless. It is up to each of us to find meaning in our lives.

neither...they are actually more aware, b/c they aware that there is no meaning and that life is basically a random accident. People who believe they have to find "the meaning of life" are just too afraid to realize that they are, after all, not very important.

It is only in the Lord Jesus Christ is there true meaning to life.
He came to give life in abundance, that abundant life, that only flows from Him!

Seek the Lord while He may be found
Call on Him while He is near
Let the wicked forsake his way
And the unrighteous man his thoughts.
Let him turn to the Lord
For HE WILL abundantly pardon.

I need no other argument
I need no other plea
It is enough that Jesus died
And that He died for me.
