Am I allowed to have an image of one of my great-grandmothers who lived about 900 years ago? Even if she is a canonized Catholic saint?

of course you are. What is with the idea that you can't have pictures? Pictures are not idolatry (if that's the problem) because you don't worship the picture. Misplaced worship is the point of idolatry - not "remembrances" of loved ones.

You can have a picture of anything you want. I can not force you to do anything.
I control me.
I have my beliefs, I present them, you are free to receive them or not.
A person generally does as he feels.
We will all have ramifications for our choices. OLAY!

That's really old. Is it an original painting? How can you be sure it's your ancestor? At any rate, I don't see why you couldn't have one. Why do you ask?

Why wouldn't you? Of course we are allowed to keep memorabilia of loved ones.
