The first thing you should do is start over, and delete the hardware profile. Go to:
Setings, Control Panel, System.

Click the Hardware tab, and click the Device Manager button. Search for the camcorder profile and delete it. Then re-download the driver. Restart the computer, and follow the directions for seteup.

Should work--good luck

This iis common. You have to play with it. It's hit and miss. Go to a USER group for video and firewire and give them your details. People with good successes will tell you what they did.

Is your camera on and in the VCR mode? If not, try this and it should work. Even if nothing pops up, go into movie maker and click capture, and if it's connected correctly, it'll let you capture. Hope this helps!
