The expression, "pulls no punches", what does it mean?

Most often it is used in connection with someone being "brutally" honest with you. You say "How do you like my hair this way" and She says "It looks like sh&it" and really hurts your feelings. That is being brutally honest as they are not aware that you did not want the truth. Another way of saying burtally honest is to say " she pulled no punches when she said the hair looked like sh&--. Saying "it is cute" and letting it go is pulling back and not punching you.

When a boxer "pulls his punches", he takes it easy on his opponent. He pretends to swing at him, while actually pulling back or to one side. To say someone "pulls no punches" means he's playing to win, he's not going to let you off easy, he's going to be a tough opponent.

As for the answer above me I'd say that's more rude than blunt. "Sorry, I don't really like it" would apply more to "pulling no punches".
