Visual disturbance in migraines can vary. i get a wide range of patterns of light across my eyes when i have one. they can range from 'snow' on a television screen to the type of effect you get if you look at a light bulb & then look aware. the best thing to do when you get your wiggly lights is to lie down in a darkened room until you feel better.

I do have flashing wiggly or zigzag like worms in my both or either eye however I do not have any headaches or migraines at all. It's not very often but maybe once in 6 mos. I am Deaf and noticed my vision is downhill as I am getting old. Using 1.25 glasses for reading or using computer/ipad.

I am 86 and have wiggley bright lights in my eyes since I was a teen ager. They come about once a month for no reason it seems slowly cross my eyesight and go away.
Have told many eye doctors and they seem as perplexed as I am. Really nothing to worry about I just sit down and wait until they finish which is about 20 mins. Apart from this my health is excellent

Sounds like a migraine, I get 'wiggly lines' across my eyes which disappear then reappear ... which is like flashing.

You should see an opthamologist right away! It could be one of several serious eye problems.
I have retinal flecking, macular degeneration and druesen to which I experience that same phenomenon.
However, retinal detachment, tumors on the optic nerves, optical migranes, and many other ailments produce like symptoms.
No matter what the case, I would not hesitate a visit to the opthamologist as you have only but one set of eyes!!!

Everybody has them. They are called floaters. It's nothing.
If you had a migraine, there wouldn't be any room for doubt - visual disturbances and terrible pain, nausea, dizziness, sensitivity to light and noise etc etc.
Unless you are experiencing any of these, I wouldn't worry.

Are you experiencing migraines when you are having this visual change? If you do then they could be related but either way- you need to see a doctor ASAP- retinal detachment- which could lead to quick and permanent vision loss can cause visual changes as you described... so please see an eye doctor and DO NOT DRIVE
