I have curly too because I'm mixed with black and white. I am guessing your hair probably frizzes out a lot either because you aren't straightening it properly, or it gets humid or you yourself get hot (or go somewhere hot) after straightening it. I wouldn't suggest getting a perm, but just make sure you straighten every bit carefully and slowly. Then after that you should try wrapping it with a scarf so it stays that way for a while, and then it will usually last a few hours longer than if you didn't wrap it.
Good luck! ;-)

Take it from me, I've been straightening my hair every day for the past 2 years! First of all, Tresemme is a great hair product line. I strongly recommend you purchase their shampoo, conditioner, heat tamer protectant spray, AND antifrizz spray/cream. Shampoo/condition your hair at night every other day. If you straighten your hair in the morning before school/work, just spray
the Heat Tamer spray all over your hair. This protects it from damage from heat. My hair is healthy because of tresemme despite the fact that I straighten/blowdry my hair every single day.
After applying the spray, I straighten my hair. It's pretty frizzy/poofy, but then I spray Antifrizz spray all over it, & it calms down within 20 minutes. Hope this helps, happy straightening!
BTW; I really recommend the Solia straightener if youre looking into buying new flat irons. Check out some more flat irons/blowdryers on this page:

I Have curly hair too and I Am having the same problem. I have alot of hair that is very thick, so when i rush it looks really bad. You just have to take your time and do it in small strips. It may take longer but it looks 1,000 times better. I also suggest you get a better straightener. Ive been using this cheap 30 dolar one and the outcome isn't great unless you are willing to put a lot of time into it. Ive tried the CHI straigtener, and it's like a miracle! With this straigtener you don't even have to use humidy lock products!!!! Your hair looks so shiny after you use it! My other straightener gave me split ends, and it fried my hair sometimes, But this one is awesome.

My hair is also curly. My straightening tools consist of a huge boar brush, Chi product called "Straight Guard" and of course me flat iron. My trick is to take little pieces of hair and brush that piece out. Put the Chi product in your hair. (do it piece by piece, not all at once.) Then, I take my flat iron, put it on my hair and then put the brush underneath it. I do this so the brush makes sure that my hair is nice and brushed out before my flat iron. Its kind of hard to imagine. Let me put it this way, put the iron on your hair then put the brush right in front of it so that it smoothly glides on your hair. It's just like a blow dryer and a brush! Blow dryers are dangerous, though.

You should take time straightening your hair...it frizzes when you aren't fully down...you need to keep going until you see it stick straight...before you straightening put on smoothing lotion for hair...or anti-frizz serum...frizz-iz has great products

just dont straighten it! first of all just live with your natural hair u were born with. and if you straighten it, it damages your hair alot and when your old u probably wont have any hair anymore. seriously, just show off your natural curls.
well maybe i don't know how tough it is to have curly hair..i'm asian so i get jealous of people that have the natural waves..

hey,
try using anti-frizz shampoo and serum to protect it (it makes it not so fluffy to) before straightening and when u straighten it use small bits at a time.
