at the vet clinic where i work we always say that god was good to us when he make them small because of their attitude. they are small so they must have a big attitude to bluff other animals that are bigger than them,.

Normally they are not. They are "high strung" (nervous) dogs and are therefore not good around kids. Kids pick even without meaning to like pulling hair of dog that then bites them. They also are high pitched barkers that will not shut up when they decide to bark. Can drive you to smacking them with a shovel as it is so irritating, you cannot stand it. They take a steady loving hand willing to give them constant attention. Otherwise they are only a forever growing problem.

Dogs aren't really mean. Chihuahuas simply aren't as bright as larger breeds. Because of their size they feel they have to protect themselves and so they act all mean. Sometimes they will even bite their own family members because their sense of sight and smell is terrible. It's just a defense mechanism.

My sister has 4, the male is mean, he thinks he is king of the house and attacks the other dogs, he likes one of her female dogs and is only nice to her. Her others are tempermental but not mean. She also has a Lab and he is terrified of the male chi, my sister has to put him outside when she feeds her other dogs because he will growl at them and not let the other dogs eat and they run and hide.

Mine is kind of mean, but it's because we carried him around and treated him like a baby and now he's 10 years old and thinks he's the leader of the pack...

It mostly depends on the owner or previous owner. I used to have this dog and the people we got her from chained her up outside and she was little bit psychobut i loved her to death

chihuahuas are not mean at all. It depends how the owner raises them. They are protective and do pick favorites of their owners and get jealous easily. but they are great pets and loving companions!
