I asked a similar question about chewing earlier and someone told me i should post in the mental health section, i am so happy there is a section for this cause i didnt know!
Back to the question....
If someone is chewing or cracking gum, i get angry and have to plug my ears or hum! Loud crunches are the worst! Like commercials for pringles and stuff ...GRRRR.
Also my doggie licking his paws or anything else over and over again drives me insane!
My family is disgusted with me and call me a spaz, What is wrong with me?

I get very upset over many noises, not so much the repetitive ones but the unpredictable ones. E.g, someone at work has an IM that makes noise when she gets a message, and she gets lots of messages randomly during the day, I can't take it. Random computer noises and stuff like that freak me out to the extent where I had to change my desk at work, etc. I cannot even listen to music in the radio because the songs will replay in my head over and over again during the day and I won't be able to concentrate sufficiently. For me, some of it is a result of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder; growing up my father used to slam doors all the time and fly into a rage unpredictably so I guess that's why loud, jarring noises evoke a startle response in me...Not sure why i have such low tolerance for the softer noises... But, my point is, you are not alone in that...

You aren't the only one that this bothers. We have certain family members that things like this bother also. I can't stand to hear people smack their food, crunch, chew gum, or any repetitive noise like tapping a pen. I work where I can have it quiet as noises bother me. My sister used to hear my brother grinding his teeth at night and would go in his room and throw curlers at him to try make him stop. We would both jump him if he started crunching ice or eating something that made a crunching noise. Both his wife and him crunch ice, and I cannot sit with them when they both start doing it in stereo. I have to get up and leave. Sometimes it bothers me more than others. One of my bosses is the same way, and he gets upset if there are loud noises or repetitive noises also. Everyone is either a visual or an auditory person when it comes to the way we process information, and that sense is more sensitive than the other. Some people are visually stimulated more easily than others.

No it is not worth it. After you have played the three games you have mentioned you will feel let down because they bring something new. World at War is like a copy of Modern Warfare except in World War 2. If you want to experience different weapons and a different environment then it is worth playing but other than that it feels the same as Modern Warfare. The only good thing about World At War is zombies.

Everyone has different sensitivity to noise and it is highly personal. I work at an airport and hardly hear the aircraft noise but the guy with the mower outside my office makes me insane. Some people who live nearby call our airport noise hotline constantly (why they moved near an airport is beyond me) and others aren't bothered by it and never call.

I used to like loud rock music, until I had my kids. Now, now way! Unless my kids arent with me. I like more peaceful things. Id rather look at a field and hear waterfall. Im only 26, Im gonna be a real drag when Im 50.

I think we each have our own "noises" that seem to drive us insane. Mine is listening to people cough. I don't know why but it drives me CRAZY!! I hate cold and flu season for this reason. I know people can't help it but....... I don't know why this drives me so insane but....just know you are not alone with a weird sound driving you up the wall.

maybe you've had some bad experience in your childhood, of which the sound was something repetitive, and your brain is kind of comparing your memory to what you hear.
but i can't say your abnormal or sumthin coz i also go crazy when i hear iron clashing against iron, or forks scratching against plates. guess it's just plain human preference for sounds.

Listening to a dog licking his balls drives me up a wall. Pet owners are not bothered with this. I am the problem it seems.
