Well, how much do you weigh and what is your height? If you weigh 600 pounds, 80 lbs is doable. If you're at 180 and need to lose 80 in six months, good luck. Losing weight shouldn't be about going on a diet or doing something "fast" or extreme; it should be about making serious lifestyle changes.

I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.

It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

Also start counting your calories. Write them down. You would be amazed as to how much more aware you are of your caloric intake, if you actually write it down. We recently discovered a site that offers a great program that counts calories, as well as keeps track of everything. It allows multiple users, so everyone in the family can keep track. They offer a free 7 day trial, and so far I am very impressed with the product. Try the 7 days and see. It allows you to add the exercise that you do during the day, which increases the amount of calories you can take in. Very Cool!!

Stay motivated, and get up and walk every day. I seriously lost all my weight starting off my day on my walk.

Good LUCK!

Thats A LOT of weight for such a short time! Even at the maximum safe weight-loss rate of 2 1/2 lbs. per week, you're bound to hit a "plateau" and stop losing for a couple weeks or more. Just focus on getting HEALTHIER; cut out fats, sugar, white flour and most dairy (use skim milk & take calcium supplements). Focus on lean meats, fish, veggies and SOME fruit. Start with a combo of MODERATE aerobic exercise after checking w/your doctor to see if you're okay to do this. Use calisthenics and progress to one of the 20-minute aerobic routines.

Also, LSD (long, slow distance) exercise is great, like an hour or more of biking or walking.

You an also start moderate weight-lifting at the start (dumbbells), then progress to heavier weights. More muscle will burn fat!

My husband has lost over 70 pounds this last year. The only change he made was to eat slower than he had been and to eat more often. 5 or 6 smaller meals will keep you feelign more satisfied. He eats WHAT he wants WHEN he wants but continues to lose weight. Just drink plenty of water and add even light exercise as well and you shoudl be able to accomplish that.
Iv'e got a 10 month old baby but am 50-55 pounds lighter now than when I got pregnant by just the diet change I mentioned. Only exercise I get is typing on teh computer LOL
Good luck to you!

Just do vigorous cardio exercise for 30 minutes to a half hour every day and keep your calorie intake at about 1200 - 1500. And it would help to lift weights every other day.

lipo. But for practical purposes - diet and exercise. My friend lost 65 pounds in a year at Weight watchers. You could try that.
