my dog wont eat his pet tabs?

pet tabs are these multivitamins that the vet prescribed but my dog hates the taste of them. ill sneak it into his food and he'll throw them on the floor.

whats a good way to get him to eat them. i think its the taste he hates

Of course not - they don't like medicine. Hide it in something that he will eat. I usually use peanut butter. they are so concernded with licking it that they don't notice the pill. Or if he's a big dog that likes to catch and eat food you throw at him - then put it in that. they tend to just swallow it whole.

try smashing it up and putting in a little canned dog food he will never know,or if that wont work you may have to put tab as far back in the dogs throat as you can hold his mouth closed and tilt his head back he will have no choice but to swallow the vitamin,if you think the tablet is too big to swallow all at once you may have to break it in half and do it twice

Wrap it in a slice of cheese.

Or use the one finger method: Open mouth, insert tablet, shove tablet down throat using index finger. Dog won't like it, but they'll get over it quickly. Offer a treat for being good.

I have a Jack Russell who is very fussy about these things. I wrap the pill in a small bit of bread and call them Vetty Yum Yums. He thinks he is getting a treat and swallows them down in a oner. Worth a try.

you have already tried what i was going too suggest , so the only other way is too do what my dad did with his hunting dog , sounds gross but it works , take one hand and hold his mouth open and with the other hand hold the capsule between your two longest fingers and stick them down in his throat as far as you can and let the capsule go then close his mouth and hold it shut and massage his throat with your other hand , works every time , and will not harm him ,

You can try a pill grinder. they are cheap and easy to use.. the vet should be able to get you one.. or any petstore... grind it then mix it in with the food see if it works.

try this, grind the pill up and put it in a small bottle of baby food, something with meat in it, then make feeding this to him be a treat or special time with you, and praise when he is finished.

Open his mouth, throw it to the back of his throat,close his mouth.

wrap it tightly in a small slice of cheese... or break it up and mix it in if you have to
