I am going to put Windows XP on my computer, but I was wondering if there was a way to save all of my files. I have the Windows XP disc(got it for free) but its not the one you can upgrade with. What should I do to backup my computer?

just drop everything you want to save onto a CD/DVD or if you don't have a CD/DVD writer save everything on a separate partition if you don't have a separate partition you can create on with partition magic which won't screw you win 98 system as Fdisk would if you haven't any of the above you've had it I'm afraid unless you use a lot of floppy disks

hi there,

There is a software that called Symantec Ghost, that's a powerful software to make a backup of all your data from all your drivers or H.D.D that's free, you can find it from www.download.com and install it. Afterthat you can restore that onto your XP or Vista or even Linux.

If the XP disk is not legitimate you will not be able to register it. If that happens, get UBUNTU or XUBUNTU. The operating systems and all programs are free.
