The United Kingdom is made up of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. England was united with Wales in 1284, Scotland joined in 1707. Ireland was forcibly joined in 1800. The Republic of Ireland was given it's freedom in 1922. Ulster (in Northern Ireland) accepted the title of United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in 1927. So the UK has existed in it's present state since 1927.

The name "The United Kingdom" was adopted in 1927. There had been a United Kingdom of Great Britain and a Kingdom of Ireland until 1800 when the Act of Union brought the two together to form The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. The Republic of Ireland became independent in 1922 after partition of the island of Ireland in 1920. The province of Ulster (Northern Ireland) stayed within the UK and then the name was finally changed to The United Kingdom in 1927

This should help. Although the countries were "united" under one monarch in 1603 the real unison came later in the Treaty of Union, 1707.

However the Anglo Irish Treaty came in 1922 on the 12th of April.
