I'm a dog groomer, and am just curious how people at home groom their own dogs. Do you have your own set up area? Or dog you sit on the floor to do it? Enjoy doing it or dread it?
How much did you spend on your equipment?
Was it hard to learn how, I just want to hear about your experiences.

My dog is 3 1/2 and has never even had a bath....He is a rhodesian ridgebak x..believe it or not he is very clean and even smells nice..he really doesn't have a dog smell at all except when he's wet..He even sleeps with us and trust me I would NOT sleep with dog smell!....I guess some breeds can take care of their own grooming?!...We trim his nails of course!

I groom my sheltie myself and I have no problem, he seems to enjoy the bath and doesn't even mind the nail trimming. The doberman mix is another story I still do it but she doesn't like it and makes it known. I use supplies available at any pet store because a groomer is expensive and I think it helps with the bond I have with my dogs.

I own 2 pug dogs and are quite easy to bath...just stand them in the bath and hose and shampoo using a long spray head from the shower...they love charging up and down the hallway throwing themselves into a big fluffy towel after to be dryed off. They are pretty good about nail trimming to...don't need very often .They seem to have pretty long quicks and also keep their own nails trimmed with lots of walks. The concrete sidewalks seem to keep their nails trimmed!!!

I groom my dog (Boston Terrier), but their is far less to groom than a dog like a poodle or a sheep dog.

I find that it is very important to keep your dog groomed for it makes them healthier and they feel good afterwards. My dog gets real excited after grooming.

What type of grooming do I do to my Boston terrier is basic stuff. Bathing, keeping her nails cut, brushing, keeping her ears cleaned, brushing her teeth "DAILY" and pest prevention.

A groomed dog is a happy dog.........A clean dog is a happy dog........pest free dog (flea, tick, ect...) is a happy dog. A happy dog has a happy owner who loves her to death.

Please people, if you can not groom your dog, then take the dog to a groomer. A healthy well groomed dog is a HAPPY dog.

I have toy poodles and I groom them myself

My clippers cost around 300.00

The area that I set up is a pillow on my lap while watching TV :)

I prefer 1/2 inch all over except on the feet, bum and face... oh and longer on the head and ears and tail

I groom my puppy all the time. We just go in the shower and she gets her puppy shampoo and then I dry her with a towel and let her run around my room to get dry.(she rubs the floor and walls. it's really cute)
