sunblock really does little to protect your ink from the uv rays of the sun. sunblock protects the skin. it was designed to protect the sun from damage but the uv rays will still break down the ink over time. it is best to keep your tattoos covered at all times when you are out in the sun if you can. they will look better for longer.

You should always have some sort of sunblock on. A great way to do this is to use a daily moisturizer that has an SPF of 15 or higher in it. Apply it daily and after vigorous activity and long periods in water. Staying moisturized and having an SPF helps keep your skin and your tattoos looking fresh and healthy. If you do use sunbloack get one that contains parasol 1789. This formula helps prevent premature aging.

I would suggest using a product such as :

Neutrogena SPF 45 Sunblock with Parsol 1789.

It is OIL FREE, NON-COMEDOGENIC, FRAGRANCE FREE, PABAFREE

RUBPROOF, SWEATPROOF, WATERPROOF

It is also
ENRICHED WITH VITAMINS A & E

You can always ask for more infomation from you dermatologist . Hope this helps!

My thoughts are always the more protection you can manage, the better. Clothing if you can, thick if you can manage; sunblock if not & have to be out.

I just stay out of the sun as much as I can, and do the best of the above if at all possible. Regardless of tattoos, I don't like that bright burny daystar.

I say, yes,, only because an issue ppl forget is when the skin changes pigment,, such as tanning, or freckles then the coloring,, of the tattoo is also changed or at least has a perceived change,, All tattooist (to my XP) say use sunblock if you can't keep them covered,, And mine still look great,, after many, many years.. Other stuff too but I'm tired,, lol..

Anytime it will be exposed to the sun at all because the sun will make it fade quicker. It doesn't take long to put some sunblock on.

Depends on how long you've had the tattoos. Today's inkslingers use a pigment instead of just ink. They are much more durable when it comes to uv light. I've had my sleeve for over 10 yrs and it's yet to fade. Though direct sunlight isn't good for tattoos, there really isn't much to worry about.

Whenever your in the sun. If you plan on going to a tanning bed, you need to cover the tattoo with a bandaid or something because the rays can discolor it.

for healed tattoos, definitely. it will help to protect your work from the sun.

for new tattoos that are still healing... it's better to keep covered up until they're fully healed.
