It isn't that she just eats her own either. We pick up the poop from our three dogs as soon as they do it, but she has now started to eat it from one of the dogs as it comes out.
I know, gross!!!!!!!!!!!!! Embarising as well. I mean when other people see it they kind of look at us like.... good job on the upbringing of your dog. I can asure you.... We didn't teach her to eat poop fresh from the tap!

My dog did the same thing. How I got her to stop was by sprinkling some cheyenne pepper over her poo. She hasn't done it since. It was vet recommended.

One of the fastest way to solve this problem, is to clear the Poop immediately, however training is the best solution to this problem

Do you know that you can train your akita even at the kind of stage she is in

It is important that you start your Dog Training Correctly and Effectively. If you do that, you can see the change in less than 7 Days.

Training her to understand that eating poop will get her something bad.... and the right discipline might change her behavior very fast.

Try confining her to a location and give her some toy that she can chew. and when she poop, clear the poop immediately. You can start conditioning her to proper food instead of eating poop.

The condition known as coprophagia, and what you can do to discourage doggie-do-eaters from this somewhat common, natural behavior that strikes humans as a disgusting gustatory pastime.
Solutions:
Change the dog's diet. Buy or prepare only nutritious, quality food that is formulated for the dog's age, breed and any medical issues.

* For the dog who may be hungry, try feeding him a little more, and make sure you feed a quality, nutritious food that is appropriate for the age and type of canine.

* Take the dog to your veterinarian for an examination for underlying medical and health problems, parasites and other problems that may be compelling him to eat feces.

* Clean up after your pet, right after he goes - before he has a chance to eat his poop. Stopping access is one key to stopping this habit.

* Walk the dog on leash so that you are in a better position to tell the dog 'leave it' and to physically keep the dog from trying to sniff and eat stools. Always praise your dog for listening. You can also reinforce the verbal praise with tidbits carried in a pouch.

Redirect the dog to something else when you see this happening. Adding a spoonful of pineapple to the dogs food makes the poop unappetizing.

Feed all your dogs some pineapple. It will make the poop "Taste bad" and eventually the one eating the turds will figure out it isn't appealing to eat any more!

Worked for me!!

Blah that is gross!!! I was told by the vet that wolves do this to get more nutrition. Yeah it is gross. Just yell NO to detract her and then take her away. Call the vet too they will tell you free advise on the phone. Good luck and don't let her lick your face!!! LOL
