Has anyone used the free version of " CCleaner " to clean up there computer? Did it cause any problems and are you happy with the way it works. Or suggest a free registry cleaner that is better and safe. Thanks everyone for your answers

Yes, I've used it for years and recommend it to all who will listen. The program has never caused me a problem and the author updates the software on a regular basis, mostly improvements.

The best thing about it is it's blazingly fast the second time you use it, the first time it has to clean out years of junk. The registry cleaner does a great job, too and I've never had anything go flaky after using it.

Get it free at www.ccleaner.com.

I used CCleaner on my win98se machine and it worked very well, it cleaned up a bunch of old files that had been left behind and also cleaned the registry, i was very impressed, i did have a registry error that it didn't remove however, but i was manually able to fix it.
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm has a cleaner for your computer from microsoft, it is free to use but runs only under 2000, xp, and vista. i was impressed with this scan also. the full service scan searches for viruses, malware, will defrag your drive and clean it up too. it takes less than 20 MB of space and runs from internet explorer, it is very easy to use too.
Good luck!
