I would say bassett hounds. Basset hounds are more easy going around children and I think they would be much more tolerant. I have heard a lot of negative things about dalmations in the past.

They are both good dogs but it depends Dalmatians are hyper and get into trouble if they are not occupied with something else and Basset hounds can get lazy at times but they are also very loyal! so it just depends on where you live and what kind of lifestyle that you have.
If you are very energetic and outgoing then a Dalmatian is perfect and if you are very laid back like to take things slow than a basset hound is a good dog for you. But i like Dalmations better!

Dalmations, because basset hounds are a lot of work, their wrinkles n droopy ears are breeding grounds for infections when not cared for properly. dalmations just go deaf.

I had a Dalmatian, he was kind of a mean dog, but he was an excellent family pet. He drew a lot of attention, and he was extremely energetic. So, I have to be bias and say a Dalmatian.

Dalmatians (note the spelling) are more able to perform tricks due to their morphology. Also,you won't get back aches leaning over to pat them !

Wow -those are two very different breeds. People with different lifestyles will like one better than the other.
