Are Basset Hounds good dogs?

I was thinking about getting a basset hound but I'm not sure if they are good dogs.

My grandma used to have one and I loved it. They are definitely stubborn though but a nice dog to have if you want a low energy dog that you can sit, back and relax with. They are very patient dogs and great with children.
