I am looking to get a Persian kitten. I was just wondering how much a purebred Persian kitten would cost, (a white one) and what would be better to get, a male or a female? thanks to everyone who answers!!!

I know someone who used to breed champions who charged over $1000 for her cats, but if you are not looking at show quality, you can usually find them for less. I do have one suggestion though, please look through Petfinder.com. I have found numerous, purebred Persian, many that are absolutely gorgeous who definitely need homes. You may even find one that is already altered.

Many people prefer males because they are supposed to be more personable, but I have all female cats and they are absolutely wonderful also. I would wait until you actually meet your potential kitty to see how they interact with you regardless of the gender. Usually there is a connection and that will make you decision of male or female.

They are great cats, I love long haired breeds (I like all of them, but really like long hair). Just keep in mind that Persians do take more time than many other cats because of their think, full coats. The mat up fairly easy. You also need to look for respiratory issues, the flat nose sometimes causes problems. Good luck looking!!!!

IMO I would not "buy" a doll face persian - if you like that type, check the shelters or rescue groups. The breeders of those cats are more/less backyard breeders who breed outside the written standard for the persian. There cats may or may not be tested and they certainly are not shown, so the quality is pet and they charge more for their pets then other ethical breeders do for properly bred persians. Add to your list: Nail clippers (check and clip once a week) Combs - fine-toothed and medium toothed or the Pin brushes - do not use any other brushes. Persians have to be combed every day to look their best. Persians do best if given a bath once a month. Be sure all tangles/knots are out of the coat before you wet them down. They need a more extensive grooming/washing then regular cats - not just a shampoo/rinse thing. From beginning to end it can take a few hours if you do it properly. Some persians like high places so be sure you get a good sturdy treehouse (minimum of 4 feet tall). Some may have breathing problems and many of them have eye/tearing problems that have to be wiped every day or they will stain.

Persian cats are AMAZING! I have 2 a boy and girl, if u want 2 get then at the same time tho we made the mistake of getting them at different times ( Same breeder) but they hate each other, there hair gets everywhere. But they are always cuddling you and purring but my female cat hates children and other people ha, they don't play much they are quite lazy incase u where hoping for them to play with u all the time. They will still play but not for that long, and I wouldn't give the treats cos my cat got addicted to them and it was a shame so just give it ham or chicken when u want overall they are great cats, but u have to brush them like everyday and there face gets quite dirty

There are many, many, many Persian kittens up for adoption in shelters, rescue homes, and pounds across the country. For a small fee (around $65) you can adopt a beautiful Persian, spay/neuter it, and take it home to love for as long as it lives.
Getting a male or female is up to you. Females are smaller, usually a bit quieter, and more talkative. Males are more adventurous, active, and outgoing, in general. Why not get one of each for company?

Like most high end, trendy breeds they have some issues you need to educate yourself on before getting them. They don't have to be so $$$ .Do you have it in your budget to take the cat to the groomer monthly?( they need to have an exit ramp shaved) Vet visits at least once a year(twice a year recommended) Do you have 2 hours a day to spend brushing every single day?
They are more likely to get eye and sinus infections.
But they are great cats and I love them. Just read up first. And check with a rescue before you go to a breeder.Find out how many litters the mother has had before you buy.1-2 OK.Get a vet check before you buy.Good luck.

I had a gorgeous Silver-Tipped Persian. Be prepared to pay well over $100 for one. I gave a couple links for you to check out. The first is my cat's page on catster. The second is links to breeders.

they usually cost over $100. but i got an off white one that was $100. usaully females r better to get but they are usaully more expensive beaucse you can breed them and they cost more to get "fixed". Males aren't the best choice in the world beacuse they are territoral. but they cost less and less to fix.
