My Astra receiver doesn't respond to my PC?

I am connecting my Astra satellite receiver with my PC by RS323 but the receiver doesn't respond even the PC dosent show any message when I connect the receiver, I tried dreamloader and ultraedit but none of them works
does it need a driver or is it damaged?? please help and advise the possible solutions for this problem and hot to check the connector

Dump the receiver, and buy a Skystar2 pci card!
The ONLY thing you can do is play with the menu options through the serial cable to your receiver!
