Try a freeware program called "Easy Thumbnails" from www.fookes.com. As an example, go into Easythumbs settings and set the default size to 640X480, then close the program. Go to your picture folder and highlight as many pics as you want. Right-click and choose "Make Thumbnail" and their resized to 640X480 in seconds without changing the originals. This is a great tool for web designers, real estate agents and anyone who needs to do this a lot.
Other good apps are Picasa, Photofiltre and Paint.net, all free and can be found using google search.
