All the lice products pretty much contain the same ingredients. Rid of course is the most popular AND most expensive. I like the Wal-greens brand, and when you do get it I suggest buying a kit that includes the lice spray for linens and furniture and a lice comb. Wash ALL your linens all your child's stuffed toys(if you have kids) If it's nice enough outside use the comb outside. Have a bowl of water handy to put the lice and nits in once removed from hair. If you are a man or your child(ren) are boys it may be worth it just to shave your head, depending on how bad the infestation is. If you do that just make sure to place all the hair in a plastic sack and you can even use the lice spray in there to assure they're dead. Also spray down your carpets. If you have long hair, after using the shampoo seperate your hair into quarters using clips and comb through each section one very thin layer at a time making sure to start the comb ALL the way at the root of your hair and rinse the comb w/HOT water after each stroke.

My daughter use to get head lice from school frequently. And I have tried everything. I found the best way to get rid of lice was with Mayo. Soak the head w/mayo, all over, nice and thick. Put a shower cap over your head and go to bed. wake up and rinse hair, hair will be very oily from mayo. Use a lice comb to comb through hair and that should solve your problem. I've used all lice treatments and the lice would always come back. Also make sure you wash all beddings, clothes that were worn, and spray furniture w/lysol or they have a lice spray. Mayo or olive oil is the best remedy for lice, it sufficates the lice and kills them. Also by using mayo, you do one treatment and the lice are dead, where if you use RID or NIX, you have to do 2 treatments. One now and one 7 days later. Mayo works better and is cheaper. Good Luck

It is very important to clean everything you have - stuffed animals, bedding, sofa pillows and all of your clothes. A tumble in the washing maschine will help. The hotter, the better.

Unless you do this, the lice will be back within days because they can hang on in your clothes.

I like to use hair dye to get rid of lice - it has the double effect that you also get to have a nice new fancy colour for your hair. After you applied the dye, wrap your head in foil or plastic so that on top of bathing in chemicals the lice will suffocate. Wrapping your head will also make the colour come out better.

Good question....hair dye. My girlfriend had 3 girls who seemed to always be coming home with it from school. Together we tried all the treatments you can buy, fumigated and cleaned the house, used every product available and followed advice given. Nothing seemed to keep them away for very long. Then we dyed the 12 year olds hair for costume reasons, have not had a problem since. Lice apparently can't stand the chemicals! If you can, dye whoevers hair needs it.
PS...We battled this problem for 10 months before we found the hair dye solution!

Well I don't remember The exact name of the product but you have to use some type of shampoo then use a comb that comes with the shampoo to get the nits out also you should use mineral oil let it sit in your hair over night with a shower cap on it is very important that you do all the treatments over and over for about a week or it is useless you should also make sure you clean all of your bedding and stuffed animals and chairs and any type of fabric you use often because the nits stick to those types of things you might even have to throw some of you things away. I hope this helps :).

Yes I agree you can purchase RID from any drug store. After the RID treatment shampoo your hair and use a blow dyer on high temperature. Lice do not like heat and oils.

use RID that's the best. you apply it to the hair and follow the directions, now its comes with a comb that you then use the remove the dead lice and nits. After that is all said and done you have to wash EVERYTHING in hot water. Such as sheets and pillow cases and all stuffed animals. Vacuum all the rooms and all carpeting. in about a week you want to re wash the hair with RID again, just in case.

Yes definately....RID. Follow the treatment on the box, you can pick this up at any pharmacy, Wal-mart, Target, etc. You will probably need to do more than one treatment, typically two.
They also make a spray to treat furniture in your home, bed, etc.
Make sure you change all bed linen after treatment, and spray bed as well.
