I adopted a 10mth old australian shepard & catahoula mix...he is great with kids and is adjusting to our 2 cats but he eats the cats poop out of the litter box! What do I do to stop this?

I had a beagle that did exactly the same thing. The vet told us it is a natural thing for them as they attempt to rid scent from what they think could be predators.
I can tell you with confidence you will most likely not succeed in changing his/her habit! I tried everything under the sun and it did NOT work! IT'S INSTINCTIVE!!!!
Two thoughts for advice--- Don't let the dog lick your face and keep the litter box cleaned daily!

it is not toxic at all. it is not a good habit though. i am not sure if you have space for this but i moved our litter box into a room that the dog didnt need to be in and put up a baby gate. the cat can get in easily and the dogs stays out, which also give the cat a room all to itself to take a break from the dogs and such

They do that just like drinking out of the toilet.

You need to put the cat litter where your dog is unable to get to
put something around it if you have to--where the cat can get in it, past it or over it but the dog can't

My dog always did that too. It never hurt him one bit, so don't worry about his health. We started using one of those big storage tubs as our litter box so that the dog could not reach into it.

pretty much all dogs will do this. you can attempt to train them not to and you will manage to get them to stop when your home.
you should put the litter up on a shelf say the first shelf in a closet.
its gross for sure they all do it.
