before i worked out i tried to inhale through my nose and exhale out my mouth hard and heavy could this build my strength

You need to get oxygen to your muscles, I would say don't worry about how hard you are breathing, but how effective your breathing is. You need to breathe with your diaphragm.
Remember to exhale when you exert your muscles, and inhale when relaxing. If you don't you could pass out or suffer an aneurysm or something bad like that.

That may not be the best idea. I had asthma and it naturally happends to me and trust me, it doesn't feel so good.

You're breathing may end up becomming too eratic and you may pass out.
