I have 2 puppies and they are the cutest things, but they both have really dry skin. I have tried using huggies baby shampoo on both of them because it is so gentle, but they are constantly scratching. I know they do not have fleas. It is impossible to put lotion on a dog. any suggestions?

The first thing is, STOP BATHING THEM. When you shampoo them, you're taking out their natural oils and it's not good to bathe a dog much. Once or twice a year is enough barring mishaps.

I was told this by my vet when I had to take my dog in after he's been hit by a truck.

maybe you should change their diet. Eggs are healthy for their coat, and i think that too much shampoo acts as a drying agent on dogs fur. Try washing them less.

Instead of putting lotion on them, increase the humidity in your home and buy a skin supplement to add to their food, or you could add a tablespoon of cooking oil to their food.
