She is definately smart. Not to say that kids that can't do those things aren't smart. Kids develop at different stages. I think you should be proud that you've done the right things for your child. I would bet you read a lot, go places together and talk about what you see. I would be careful with whom you share this info. Other moms might feel you're boastful, but grandmas always love to hear how clever their grandchildren are, as well as parents of other bright children. By the way, does she watch t.v.? There was a debate a few days ago about how t.v. can effect the brain.

Well i thought that u were just a proud parent until u said she can name almost every bird, i only kno about 4 or 5, so has to b smart. Cause everything else u said was normal, matter of fact my niece is 2 and could hold a conversation with someone like shes a 10-year-old and she kno's how to count to 10 and her abc's(eventhough the h may sound like an a and the l, m, n, o, p is one word) I say when she's 3 or 4, put her n an learning facility.

I think your a proud mother. And that's awsome! My child knows how to count past 30. He knows all his colours and shapes and ABC'S He can even say Octagon!! And I know I am super proud of him. Many kids know all this stuff at 2, but many also don't so I would just be proud that your child is developing just fine =)

you have a right to be proud of your smart 2 year old, but lots of 2yo can do all of that. the main reason your child can do so much is because she has a good mom that will help her learn about the world around her. keep up the good work and who knows how far she can go?

She most certainly is! You must be very proud of her. Most of the three year olds in my daughters nursery cannot count to ten until they have been there for a couple of months, including my daughter. Encourage her as much as you can by reading to her and pointing to the words as you read, she will probably soak it up. FAB!

Every child learns in different ways. Does she have older siblings? That advances many things in a child's learning ability. My 6 year old had a hard time learning the things he needed to learn to be ready for Kindergarten. My three year old already knows what he needs, just by hanging out with his older brother.

My son is the exact same way. He got a shape puzzle and he knew parallelogram, and Pentagon! I didn't even recognize those shapes. He counts to 20 in Spanish and English. I think we have pretty bright kids.

Many children know this by age 2, its all in the parents, and how much time they spend teaching them. My nephew could spell his name at 2 1/2, and now chats with me on the computer and hes 4.
