America like every other country in the world is not basing its behavior on the Biblical eye for an eye concept. Although the Bible does say, an eye for an eye, the verse is completed with "but vengeance is mine said the Lord" War is not about beliefs or faith. War is caused by one man or country wanting something that another man or country has. Whether it be power, oil, land or gold. Right now, the United States is in a power struggle with a nation that is claiming that it is a religious war. This is nonsense and merely an excuse for mankind to once again do their own thing. Who is wrong? Both.

Obviously you live in a strange fantasy world.
The bombs were droppd to end the 2nd world war ,as Japan decided not to comply with Germanys surrender.First Hiroshima, and then Nagisaki.
It might be worth pointing out that a little something called,Pearl harbour took place,ie,the japs brought the USA into the 2nd world war by bombing their air bases,UNPROVOKED.

I doubt very much that japan has the techinical nohow,or courage to even smash a window in the usa

I believe in Buddhism... should YOU conduct your activities according to MY version of ethics? Why would the Japanese conduct their lives according to American philosophy?

Another point to consider: perhaps we're already reaping the collective bad karma of our actions against Hiroshima and Nagasaki (on TOP of the conventional bombings we did). Just the sheer hatred by some people in this world against Americans might be a taste of that karma coming to fruition? I'm not saying it is for sure, but you wonder... at least I do.

And an edit after reading the replies of some other people: What really scares me is the ignorance of the politics and the finger-pointing about "who started it"... when will people ever learn that hatred and ignorance only begets more hatred, bombings, etc.?

America does not believe in an Eye for an Eye.
if you actually look at your history book rather than just taking snippets of information that only back your claims you would see that the target of American forces was the Japanese government and military.

After the peace treaty was signed we (Americans) spent billions in reconstruction for japan and today Japan is one of the greatest industrial and technological producers in the world. and believe it or not it was thanks to the Americans.

Look at Germany, go to east Germany and look around, look at what the Russians did to them then go to west German and see what the Americans and the Brits did for them... tell me who was better off.

if you want the be a bitter little biased man then so be it, it's your life.

but don't try to paint history like Americans are the bad guys... we're not... If we were Japan would still be in shambles using paper shacks as factories.

Germany would still be paying reparations.

France and Britain would still bare deep scars.

What I would love to see is how the world would act without America's help...

then you would be right to hate America...

Grow up friend, look at the world with out hate and you will see the "evil" you see coming from the states is misplaced.

Good Question, and wait a while, the ..mericans days are counted anyway. Japan was sober enough not to retaliate after the A-Bomb was dropped on them, but now that bush and co is trying to venture into Iran, with that "they are making a bomb!" scare..they will get a dose of their own medicine soon..

Iran is neither Japan, nor Iraq...

I think that the Japanese already did the equivalent of just that prior to the dropping of the atom bomb by the U.S.

Ever hear of "Pearl Harbor", the "Bataan Death March", the "Rape of Nanking", and the other Japaneses atrocities during WWII?

Watch "Hell in the Pacific" on the Military Channel (or History Channel) sometime.

The whole eye for an eye thing only goes in one direction, besides it would be stupid for a government to let another country drop a nuclear bomb on it territory

Um, your stupid. The japs first surprised attacked us, they started the war with us. And maybe if they weren't so stubborn on Iwo Jima, we wouldn't have to resort to nuclear bombs. And who says america believes in "an eye for an eye"

Mabey the japs don't believe an eye for an eye. They most likely don't want to be americanized and wouldn't want to think like them.
No reason to bomb themselves yet, either.

Because they surrendered and ended the war.
The atom bomb was payback for Japanese atrocities during the war: torture and mistreatment of prisoners and the attack on Pearl Harbor. I just think it's a pity we didn't drop a nuke on Berlin.
