With all of the rational arguments against God's existence, and the fact that people who supposedly "believe in God" contradict their own beliefs, is it safe to say that God is reallly a dead conception in a world which is growing much more secular, scientific, and knowledgable? Are we now too smart to believe in God? Has society outgrown such an infantile idea? Is theism at its end, and is Atheism on the verge of triumph?

Yes, atheism is on the verge of triumph!

Does a god of any type exist at all? No. If there were a god which dispenses man's life not to speak of other phenomena, then all our plans and endeavours, our moral being and hopes of improvement lose meaning. But hope, plan, initiative, choice and effort are realities of every day experience. Their reality proves the existence of freewill. Because freewill exists, god does not exist and the concept of an almighty god is clearly an absurdity.

Why, then, have so many men believed in the existence of god so long? Belief in the existence of god is only an expression of man's slave-mind. Slave mind seeks a prop and an easy prop on which the slave mind rested was a concept of god. Hence in terms of the first prop, namely god, then expressions of the slave-mind came to be known as theism. Later on, as men grew rational, not only the solid idol but any form of god, either, as a benevolent being or as the ultimate reality, was exposed to be mere myth or an inference of formal logic.

Atheism asserts the independence of the individual. It denies the existence of a power, natural or supernatural, which determines human life. For a long time, people have been supposing that their lives are determined by god, fate or natural law. But the daily experience of free will, disproves the existence of any determining factor.

Theism postulated a creator or a metaphysical reality and subordinated human life to it. But atheism reveals the fact that a concept of a creator or of an ultimate reality is just man's understanding of the phenomena around him. Man is the creator of the notion of creation and he is the author of the proposition of ultimate reality. There is no universe as entity. Universe is a product of man's understanding. It is what man thinks it is. The difference between theistic and atheistic understanding is the difference between going from universe to man and going from man to universe. If we go from universe to man then man's life becomes part of the universe, and as such it is subordinate to it. On the other hand, if we proceed from man to universe then man becomes supreme and the concept of universe is but an understanding of man. The former is an expression of slavish subordination and the latter expresses man's freedom of understanding.

well....I guess if you are a Christian you would have to say that G-d is dead

but no...I do not think that G-d is dead nor do I believe that it's possible for a thing that has no corporal form to ever stop being

as to those that contradict their own beliefs....that is more a matter of people not being willing to admit that no two people will ever have the exact same thought patterns as anyone else because no two people live the exact same life....so how could religion be the exact same thing to two people, not to mention millions of people?

not having the exact same relationship with G-d as anyone else doesn't then negate the existence of G-d, it's just admitting that we are all different

two siblings....will they have the exact same relationship with their relatives? will they have the exact same family experiences and lives? NO....they are different people so they will react and interact differently with their parents and any other siblings and aunts and uncles....but that doesn't mean that we can say they aren't in the same family just because their relationships are different

so too with religions and people within the religion.....each person will interact differently with that religion, and with G-d....and if they were to talk about it there might appear to be contradictions...but if they were honest to begin with and just admit that everyone is different then the contradictions won't matter so much

well...that is unless the religion itself is just contradictory...but then it's the religion and the people who created that religion at fault, not G-d who is G-d over all people whether they get the religion right or not....

No Wakan Tanka ---- The Creator is not Dead!!!
Here's Why!!!

Each morning upon rising, and each evening before sleeping, gives thanks for the life within you and for all life, for the good things the Creator has given you and for the opportunity to grow a little more each day. Consider your thoughts and actions of the past day and seek for the courage and strength to be a better person. Seek for the things that will benefit others (everyone).

2. Respect. Respect means "To feel or show honor or esteem for someone or something; to consider the well being of, or to treat someone or something with deference or courtesy". Showing respect is a basic law of life.

3. Once a council has decided something in unity, respect demands that no one speak secretly against what has been decided. If the council has made an error, that error will become apparent to everyone in its own time.

4. Be truthful at all times, and under all conditions.

5. Always treat your guests with honor and consideration. Give of your best food, your best blankets, the best part of your house, and your best service to your guests.

6. The hurt of one is the hurt of all; the honor of one is the honor of all.

7. Receive strangers and outsiders with a loving heart and as members of the human family.

8. All the races and tribes in the world are like the different colored flowers of one meadow. All are beautiful. As children of the Creator they must all be respected.

9. To serve others, to be of some use to family, community, nation, and the world is one of the main purposes for which human beings have been created. Do not fill yourself with your own affairs and forget you’re most important talks. True happiness comes only to those who dedicate their lives to the service of others.

10. Observe moderation and balance in all things.

11. Know those things that lead to your well-being and those things that lead to your destruction.

12. Listen to and follow the guidance given to your heart. Expect guidance to come in many forms; in prayer, in dreams, in times of quiet solitude, and in the words and deeds of wise Elders and friends.

i think of you will infrequently cost Nietzsche exceptionally sufficient. I do think of he's often misunderstood, nevertheless... Nietzsche rightly observed that secularization finally ends up in nihilism, that atomism is misguided—he already suggested "quanta of rigidity", thereby prefiguring quantum mechanics—, and that technology can by no skill clarify something, yet in hassle-free terms describe. Nietzsche's writings are certainly professional-elitist and sexist, and he certainly glorified warfare. yet how do you know elitism, sexism, and warfare are incorrect? until eventually you pay attention it from a God or examine it interior the celebs or something, there is not any sturdy reason to contemplate something maximum appropriate or incorrect... Nietzsche rightly observed this.

Throughout history, those who struggle with belief in God have sometimes suggested that "God is dead." In modern times, the person most influential in this claim has been nineteenth-century German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. His intent was to challenge traditional Christianity because he believed it was nothing but an attempt by religious leaders to control the unthinking masses. In Nietzsche's view, the idea of God was no longer necessary. Therefore, he declared the idea of God to be passé; God was now dead.

However, the allegation of God's demise stands in strong contrast with the teachings of the Bible. From its first verse, the Bible teaches the existence of God: "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1). The Bible does not argue God's existence—it assumes it. The apostle Paul noted, "In him we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28). Without God, there would be no universe and certainly no people on the earth.

The very definition of God as a perfect Being implies that He cannot die. Death indicates imperfection. The Bible teaches that God is eternal: "The eternal God is your dwelling place" (Deuteronomy 33:27). Any God worthy of the title would have to be.

Psalm 14:1 states, "The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.'" There are several logical problems with the idea of God being dead. Among these are

1. God is, by definition, eternal; He cannot be born or die.
2. God's death would necessarily end all known life since He sustains all things.
3. If God were dead, we could not speak of it since we would not exist.

An interesting sidebar is the fact that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, did die on the cross. "Being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross" (Philippians 2:8). However, it was Jesus' flesh that was put to death; the eternal Son of God never ceased to exist. In fact, He raised up His physical body on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:4). No one can kill God.

God is eternal and has revealed Himself through Jesus Christ. Jesus died for our sins, yet rose again to conquer death and validate His claim as Messiah. Some, in their hopelessness, declare, "God is dead." We proclaim, "He has risen!" The God who is alive compels us to give a reason for the hope within us (1 Peter 3:15) and to take the message of His love to the ends of the earth (Matthew 28:18-20).
