There is no evidence. I don't know why people make this stuff up. Perhaps to make themselves feel better or more important. Hell, I could even say that everybody else is an automaton and only I have free will if I wanted to, it wouldn't make it true though.

I guess you believe in what you believe in.
Fine if that is what works for you.
But all night long and many other other nights I have
read about people who are confused about God and
what He is like and what His relationship with our lives.
As Christians we believe the answer is in the Bible but you are
free to believe what you want. We are not forcing anyone (well most of us) and you can make your own decisions whether you are just a wombat, palm tree, or katydids..you do have free will..as you believe so shall you receive

First of all let me pause to laugh at those who cannot see the mathematical impossibility for naturalistic processes to account for the origins of life. To say that somewhere along the evolutionary scenario we developed awareness is to say we decided to become before we had the volitional skills to do so.
Self awareness itself is a subjective evidence for the existence of nonphysiological existence. To deny this is like a circle objecting to the allegations of roundness.
If I tell you that we have significance I have to point to the source which makes that claim. The bible says that God made man in His image. It does not say this about any other of Gods created beings.
If you are coming from the foundational belief that man evolved from some putrid pond of several mellinia ago then any claim for significance is merely arbitrary and man has no more claim to significance than an impersonal blob of matter which may or may not decide to become significant someday before it has the ability of intelligent thought to make decisions of any kind. This is the bankruptcy of all naturalistic explanations for the origins of man/life. What seperates animal from plant life is the fact that animals are animated by the breath of life. Plants have no lungs. This breath of life originated from God breathing His Spirit into the form of animal life. The fact that God told man to have dominion over all of earth and to subdue it places man above all else. This is not intended to be a tyrannical enforcing of ones will but a caring for the things that God created and a willingness to obey the precepts of Him who created ones self.

we are a non secular being having a human journey. The spirit needs the body so it ought to make sure and pay interest to and sense and study by contact with the actual universe. in the different case and not using a body, the spirit lays in silence and in darkness.

Well, human beings have minds .... and that sets us apart ...
Personally I do not like to see any hierarchy made of created creatures .... as far as I am concerned all are important in the scheme of things

as a side-effect of our evolutionary path we developed self-awareness. This included the awareness that we, at some future point in time, will not be around any more.

If we consist of only the body.....how can anyone think? A thought is not physical. How can you dream? A dream is not physical. Therefore, if you can create something non physical, then we do not consist of only matter.

Psalms 8
4What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
5For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
6Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
7All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
8The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
9O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
